Woo Hoo!
Hey! Remember when I was all like, "Phew! Glad that's over!" about the lice?

Yeah, they are back. Am obviously Lice Neophyte.

Pepper got off the school bus and said, "My head was really itchy again today," and sure enough, there were a couple little nits and eggs in her formerly pristine hair. I don't know if we missed some eggs, or missed some soft surface somewhere, or if she is getting reinfected at school, but I'm totally bummed.

(Peanut just walked over to me and whispered in my ear, "I want 10,675 toys." Yeah, well, I want an automatic nit removal machine and some recreational alcohol and/or drugs, but neither one of us is gonna get what we want tonight, kiddo.)

Last night, I went to bed with the possibility of a near kid-free weekend. My MIL had offered to try to get circus tickets for this weekend, and offered to take the kids overnight on Saturday as well. I had visions of an early drive up to Boston tommorrow morning, followed by a leisurely perusal of the woman's department at Lord & Taylor (Michael Kors makes plus-sized clothing now!) and then a night out on the town with Dr. V., and possibly hot monkey sex.

But nothing kills your libido like nit-picking, and Dr. V. is coming down with a cold, and it looks like we'll be quarantined for the duration. There is no way I want to head down to visit my parents with little friends on all of our heads. I'm looking across the room at Pepper right now, curled up on the couch with her hair back in teeny little braids. Poor kid - she came home with her report card, all "A"s for the second time in a row, and instead of a celebratory dinner, she got to dump more medicated shampoo on her head and sit there for hours as I combed and fingernailed her head.

I really wish I knew where our camera charger was, because unfortunately I missed a great photo op this evening. I went into the bathroom and found this message written in the steam on the shower door, which I have re-created for your viewing pleasure:

Hi, I just stumbled into your blog via finslippy...my mom had six of us and ran a daycare. Back then you didn't send the kids home who had lice so my Mom would go through ALL of our hair...even the daycare kids. Hours on end. I guess when my Dad told her she was over-reacting she just burst into tears. It's one thing I dread going through with my own kids!!

Sorry about you're weekend!

Migod - how do you manage to keep from pinning them down and shaving their heads? That's where I'd be right about now, I tell you. Oof.

I remember when we had to de-lice everything in the house including the teddy bears. It was a fun weekend.
